TREASURER CANDIDATE
Kelli Hutchens, University of Kentucky
As an academic advisor at the University of Kentucky who is relatively new to the advising profession, I am excited about the potential to be involved in The Kentucky Academic Advising Association (KACADA) for the upcoming year. KACADA represents a great opportunity to build relationships and connections with other advisors across the state and to share best practices and strategies to help facilitate our students’ success and development. I believe the relationships formed and professional development opportunities presented through KACADA are essential in helping all of us to become better advisors and moving forward collectively with new initiatives to facilitate the personal growth and academic success of a diverse population of students. As a hard-working advisor who realizes first-hand the power of building connections and the importance of sharing knowledge, it would be my distinct pleasure to represent KACADA as the Treasurer. I am originally from Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated with my BS in Psychology from the Ohio State University and with my MA in Higher Education from the University of Maryland. Before coming to the University of Kentucky, I worked for three years at University of Central Florida (UCF) as the Coordinator for the First Year Experience (FYE), working specifically with a program designed to get freshmen connected to one another and to UCF offices and resources to facilitate a successful transition from high school to college. I am thrilled to now be an academic advisor for sophomore through senior Biology majors at the University of Kentucky and look forward to the opportunity to become connected to other advisors across the Kentucky region.
