MEMBERSHIP CHAIRPERSON CANDIDATES

Clint Haynes, Western Kentucky University

I grew up in Lexington, and graduated from Western Kentucky University with an M.A. in Communication and a B.A. in Mass Communication.  I have taught at WKU / Bowling Green Community College for a decade now, primarily teaching introductory Communication courses.  Advising is probably my favorite aspect of working in higher education, though.  Our students need, expect, and deserve quality advisement in regard to topics ranging from career paths, short- and long-term planning, and even personal dilemmas.  I am a former winner of the WKU Student Government Association Advisor of the Year award for BGCC, and just recently won BGCC's Faculty Award for Student Advisement.  I also completed the Master Advisor Certification training offered by WKU's Academic Advising & Retention Center.  Last year, I served as a member of KACADA's Elections Committee.  This year, I'd like to serve as the Membership Chairperson and help KACADA further expand throughout our state.  Our organization has done well in its infancy, and I would love to see statewide participation increase to meet the needs of Kentucky students and those impacted by their college experiences.

Nicole McGrew, Eastern Kentucky University

My name is Nicole McGrew and I have been working in higher education for the last eight years. Currently I work for Eastern Kentucky University as a Transfer Admissions & Articulation Coordinator. My position is stationed at Bluegrass Community & Technical College where I advise students who intend to transfer to EKU. I was one of the founding members and served as an officer during KACADA’s first year.
I am a graduate of Asbury, where I was a student athlete and am currently pursuing a graduate degree at the University of Kentucky in Educational Policy Studies and Evaluation.
I live in Lexington and have been married for six years to my husband Charles. We have a ten month old Madeline and are expecting our second child in September!
I would like to be elected to the position of Membership Chair because I thoroughly enjoyed serving as Secretary during the first year of the organization.  KACADA is a great resource for advisors across Kentucky and I would be honored to serve again as an officer for this organization.
If elected, I would like to increase the membership of the organization by performing more outreach and organizing more functions and workshops that can provide professional development to the advising community. I have an undergraduate degree in communications, work well with all types of people, and have strong organization skills.

Ryan Sallee, University of Kentucky

My name is Ryan Sallee and I am an Academic Advisor in Undergraduate Studies at the University of Kentucky.  I hold two B.A. degrees in Kinesiology and Health Promotion and an M.S. in Higher Education with a Concentration in College Student Affairs from UK.  Prior to coming to work for Undergraduate Studies, I served as an Academic Graduate Assistant with the Center for Academic and Tutorial Services.  In my short tenure as an Academic Advisor, I have sought to develop professionally to the highest degree possible.  I attended the 2009 NACADA National Conference, participated in numerous NACADA webinars and presented at the 2009 College Personnel Association of Kentucky (CPAK) Statewide Annual Conference.  I have also been selected to present at the 2010 NACADA Region 3 Conference and was recently elected as the incoming Public Relations Coordinator of the Advising Network at the University of Kentucky.
I would like to continue to be an active part of giving back to the advising profession by serving as the KACADA Membership Chairperson.  It is my belief that when professionals work together in a collegial atmosphere, the entire profession benefits.  Thus, I would relish the opportunity to be a part of helping KACADA to continue to grow and flourish.
There are a number of skills that I possess that would make me a strong candidate for the position of KACADA Membership Chairperson.  I thrive at cooperating and working with others toward a common goal.  In this role, I would combine my concerted efforts with those of other KACADA leaders to help the organization to continue to grow and develop.  I also possess a high degree of attention to detail and a dedicated work ethic.  These traits would serve me well in managing conference registrations and maintaining accurate membership records.
Thank you for your time and consideration.  Please know that if elected, I will serve KACADA, its leadership and members to the absolute best of my ability.  Have a pleasant day.
