In addition to electing these five new officers, we voted on four amendments to the KACADA constitution as follows:
1. Proposed amendment to the job description of the NACADA Region 3 Liaison to change from an election that happens on odd years to an election that happens on even years in order to align the cycle of KACADA with that of the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA).
2. Proposed amendment to the job description of the president of KACADA, to serve on such committees and workgroups as invited/assigned, to represent the interests of the association and the profession of advising, and to act as a representative of best practices of advising in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
3. The creation of a chair for Marketing and Public Relations to serve on the executive committee to guide the branding and marketing of the association. The position to be an initial appointment for one year, with an election in the following year to align with the odd-year election cycle.
4. The creation of a non-voting representative on the executive committee from the Council on Post-Secondary Education (CPE). This position will be appointed by the council and provide the executive committee with information regarding legislative updates and serve as a conduit for information and issues at the council that require a knowledge and expertise from the association on advising issues. Voting shall take place via online third party surveying service from 8:00 a.m. Monday, May 10th through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, May 16th. In the event of a tie, the winner will be decided by majority vote of those in attendance at the business meeting. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns, and thanks for your consideration of these leadership positions! If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Shaun Ketterman.
